Aromatherapy massage







The benefits of massage are:

  • It calms the nervous system.
  • It improves muscle tone.
  • Eases aches and pains in muscles and joints.
  • It improves blood circulation.
  • It stimulates skin function.

Massage is a way of stroking the body, with variations in lengths and depth of strokes. The strokes must be directed towards the heart, as this will help to improve the blood circulation

Tapotement:

Tapping the skin with your fingers quickly and slowly is stimulating. It helps to improve the blood flow. It is done on relatively small areas of the body like forehead, neck and cheeks

Friction:

It consists of rubbing the hands backwards and forwards across an area is warming and stimulates to the tissues. Rubbing the hands quickly on a freezing winter day is perfect example of work of friction.

Petrissage:

The squeezing and releasing of a muscle or a part of muscle group. Kneading dough is an example of this type of movement. It is done mostly with both the hands on thighs buttocks. This movement helps to strength muscle fiber, remove waste products and ease fatigue.

Effleurage:

Long flowing massage strokes with little pressure on the body are soothing and relaxing. This type of movements is called effleurage. It is done with the whole hand using gentle, even pressure. It is often used to start and finish a massage

Avoid massage over:

  • Area that is affected.
  • An area where varicose veins are present.
  • Bruised or broken skin.>
  • Over any inflammation or unusual swelling
  • A person suffering from fever.

Before massage:

  • Warm your hands up. Do not start massage with cold hands
  • The room in which massage is to be done is kept warm enough.
