Common feet problems:
- Athlete’s foot: It is a fungal infection which results in cracked, red and itchy skin between toes. It thrives in warm and moist conditions. This infection intensifies by sweat. This can spread on whole of the foot. To prevent recurrence , wear cotton socks, proper size shoes and do not walk barefoot.
- CALLUSES: They are exfoliated away with almond scrub. Calluses are found usually on the ball and heel of the foot. The calluses are areas of thick and hard skin which are caused by improper fitting shoes. The suffering person should remove dead skin by using a pumice stone or special skin removing cream. To prevent the calluses, one must moisturize his feet frequently so that they are not dry.
- CHILBLAINS: Chilblains are shiny red swelling which occurs on the toes. It is caused due to poor blood circulation. If a person stands in a cold weather and when a quick temperature change occurs and the feet warm up, they become painful and itchy. Do not scratch otherwise the skin will break up and infection will occur. Use calamine lotion to it so as to reduce the irritation.
HOME MADE CREAM FOR CHILBAINS:
Make a paste of one tablespoon of glycerine and white of an egg and flour in sufficient quantity. Then add one tablespoon of rose water to the mixture and apply the paste on chilblains and cover it with a cotton cloth.
- CRACKS: Rub a small piece of lime on the soles of the feet before going to sleep. It will remove the cracks and will make the feet soft. The cracks will not occur in the future.
- FOOT ODOUR: This is the most common problem. Foot odour happens when the feet are warm and moist and sweat can not evaporate. To reduce the feet odour, cotton and woolen socks should be worn which absorb the sweat. Wash your feet in warm water and rinse in cold water and dry them well.
