Homemade Remedies for Raynaud’s Disease

Raynaud’s is basically a disorder of skin, called as spasmodic peripheral vascular disorder. The Raynaud’s condition can result into eschemia or incomplete flow of arterial blood to the extremities.

Normally, the toes and fingers are found to have this condition. In this condition, the vasospasm, which is a tissue in the walls of blood vessel muscles, becomes unable to react over the atmospheric stress, especially to the cold weather.

Because of the unambiguous symptoms, one can easily find out the occurrence of this condition. When it occurs, the toes, fingers and hands become icy cool with numbness and little pain. It is pretty rare over the tip of nose and ears. The extremities become numb in response to the atmospheric stress and icy cool temperature.

One can learn about home treatment of this disease and can easily relieve its symptoms. Following are some home remedies for the treatment of symptoms of Raynaud’s disease.

  • One should wear gloves or mittens while moving out in cold weather or working with snow. Mittens are preferred over gloves as they are much warmer than normal gloves. The mittens keep the fingers intact and maintain their warmth. One can even use mittens over the gloves to keep the hands warmer.
  • One should drink plenty of hot liquids to maintain the internal temperature of the body. If the body is warm from inside, it can easily face the tough external weather conditions. The hot drinks help one to strongly face the external cold conditions.
  • One should use the insulated bag or cover to hold the cold containers like bottle or can. The insulated cover maintains the warmth of the fingers and avoids one getting into direct contact with extremely cool containers.
  • One should keep the hands in running warm water or in a tub filled with warm water to maintain the warmth. One should often rub the hands together to generate heat. This action will enhance the flow of blood towards the extremities and will reduce the risk of Raynaud’s attacks. One should stay careful to not to burn the hands while giving them hot water bath.
  • As far as feet are concern, one should wear woolen cotton- blend or synthetic socks instead of wearing pure cotton socks. The woolen socks will keep the feet warmer and drier and will leave them moisture free.
  • One should apply a nice foot powder, so that the feet remain dry and moisture free. The moist feet more easily catches the chilled air that is why it is highly necessary to keep them dry and warm.
