Rosacea
Rosacea: Redness and flushing on the face or neck is called “ Rosecea”. Rosacea is a skin disease.
The blood vessels in chin, forehead and the lower half of the nose become enlarge and visible through the skin.
It is also known as acne rosacea. Rosacea is not like acne, there are not whiteheads and blackheads in rosacea.
A bumpy skin, burning, dry eyes, texture and stinging of the skin, spicy food and alcohol are other symptoms of rosacea.
If you have rosacea skin, then avoid triggers, wear sunblock, stay out of the skin and drinking lots of water. Rosacea strikes both male and female.
ROSACEA SYMPTOMS
- Stinging and burning sensations.
- Redness on the face, it has the appearance of sunburn.
- Damaged and enlarged blood vessels form visible red lines on the face. These lines are known as telangiectasis.
- Eye symptoms are called Ocular Rosacea. Tearing, pain, dry eyes, burning or redness are include in Ocular Rosacea.
- Sun exposure, consumption of spicy food, alcohol, caffeine, changes in temperature or wind.
Stages of Rosacea:
- First stage: Red lines, sensitive skin or flushing may appear for some days. In this stage, Eyes may be effected or sore.
- Second stage: In this stage skin eruptions like pimples or nodules may spread from one part to another parts of the body. It may be appeared for last weeks.
3. Third stage: Rosacea appearing on the cheeks and often appearing as a swollen nose.
What aggravates Rosacea?
- Hot food, alcohol and hot drinks.
- You should avoid oil contains products and perfumed products.
- You should avoid dehydration.
- You should avoid drugs that expand your blood vessels.
- You should exercise in cool surroundings areas.
- Exposure to weather-sun, wind and cold.
- You should avoid scrubbing, rubbing and massaging the face.
- You should keep a diary of flushing episodes and note associated foods, activities, products and medications.
Types of Rosacea:
- Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea: Characterized by facial redness includes in this type.
- Phymatous rosacea: Facial redness with pimples and bumps includes in this type.
- Papulopustular rosacea: Features of this type is skin thickening on the face.
- Ocular rosacea: Eyes are irritated in this type.
Treatment for rosacea:
Trigger: Trigger avoidance can help to reduce the rosacea. You should protect your skin from the sun. Use sunblocks such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Oral tetracycline antibiotics and topical antibiotics are prescribed by the doctors. Oral antibiotics help to relieve from ocular rosacea. People who develop infections of the eyelids must practice frequent eyelid hygiene. Daily scrubbing the eyelids gently with diluted baby shampoo.
Laser treatment also help to reduce the rosacea.
