Varicose Veins Surgery

Varicose veins are the problem, which are basically related with the veins in legs. When the veins become varicosed, it becomes extremely essential to give them proper treatment before it turns into any severe problem.

During the early stage, the varicosed veins symptoms can be treated and made under control. In the early stage treatment, the vein can be made functional again. But if the condition becomes severe, the only method left is to block the varicosed veins.

Varicose veins surgery is usually more efficient for the largest varicose veins. Surgery is efficient not only for the largest varicose veins, but it also give tremendous results over the smaller varicose veins.

The spider or thread veins, which are present deep in the skin layer, are not treated by surgery. That means they cannot be removed physically. In general, the surgery of varicose veins is effective only on the greater level varicose veins.

During the varicose veins surgery process, the entire varicosed vein is removed from the body. This is the final and very difficult decision, as one is left with no other option but to get those completely damaged veins removed.

The other veins have to compensate for the removed veins. It is not that difficult task; in fact it is good for the patient’s sake because the veins that are actually removed by surgery are no more of any use.

The entire procedure of varicose veins surgery is normally a tack of one to two hours. One is able to get discharged even on the same day of surgery. If one is having varicose veins is both the legs, it then requires two operation and that that also on different days.

Doctors recommend some basic tests such as ultrasound, to check the faulty valves. Doctor may also ask one to stand still for a while, so that the doctor can observe the pooling of blood into the veins. When the veins become swelled, the doctor marks those bulged areas with a marker or pen, because it is difficult to make out the bulges while one lies over the surgical bed.

There are several methods that surgeons use for removing the varicose veins surgically. One can consult with the surgeon about the method that will suit one the best. The most common varicose veins surgery is ligation and stripping. During this operation, the surgeon ties off and pull out the main vein, which is on the surface and moves deep into the leg.

Only a selected section of vein, which lies between groin and knee, is removed. There are very rare chances when the surgeon has to remove the entire vein from ankle to groin. This condition usually occurs during the extreme severe cases.

After the operation, the leg is firmly bandaged. One can leave for home on the same day and can continue to perform the normal life routine.
