Facial hair is one of the taboos for taboos for women. Women with excess facial hair always lack self confidence, and suffer a lot. The unwanted hair often appears on upper lip, chin, forehead and sides of the face.

Facial skin is quite delicate and waxing may lead to rashes. Most of the women prefer waxing their sideburns or chin.

How is facial waxing done?

Face should be properly cleaned. Applying powder before treatment is must to reduce excess oil in skin. A thin layer of wax is applied on face and waxing cloth is smoothened over and then pulled out.

Face is cleaned with lukewarm water and treated with soothing oils. Most of the salons prefer cold wax for face as it is less painful. Cold wax is heated until it reaches honey like consistency.

A thick coat of wax is applied on face in direction of hair growth. Wax is allowed to cool for 30 seconds and then removed with firm pressure. Skin is moisturized and concealed to remove redness. Facial waxing is done in small patches.

Waxing is easy and quick treatment for hair removal. It has no major side effects. Waxing may hurt when wax is being removed but the discomfort is minimal and not long lasting.

Disadvantages of facial waxing

Waxing may be problematic for women with darker skin as it may lead to discoloration.

Those with sensitive skin should not go for facial waxing instead opt for bleaching that may not remove hair but will lighten hair color to match skin color. Those with acne problem or diabetic patients should not go for facial waxing.

Post waxing care

Facial waxing may result in redness for several hours. Applying ice or calming lotions may soothe skin. Direct contact to sun’s harsh rays should be avoided for at least a week. No harsh chemicals or make up should be used for 2 days.
