What are the effects of shaving underarm hair?
Shaving armpit hair must be performed frequently. Armpit can darken over a period of time if shaved regularly. Shaved hair grows back looking darker and feeling more coarse. Hair regrowth after shaving is immediate.
Why should one choose waxing over shaving?
Waxing removes entire hair which takes up to 3 weeks to grow back. Hair that grows after waxing feels softer than before. Waxing uproots hair from its follicles for long lasting and smoothest results. Warm waxing is preferred to remove hair from underarms. Waxing not only removes hair but also exfoliates the top layer of dead skin cells.
Two types of wax are used: hard and liquid. Liquid wax is heated to consistency of warm honey and after application removed with muslin cloth. Hard wax is heated until consistency of molasses and most suitable for sensitive areas.
As it cools, it wraps hair for easy and comfort removal. Hard wax contains Aloe Vera and lavender. Liquid hot wax is recommended for less painful underarm hair waxing.
What precautions should be taken before waxing?
Hair should be at least 1/4" long and armpits should be scrubbed on the day to be waxed before treatment. The women’s skin is most sensitive during first three days prior to and first three days of their periods, so waxing should be avoided during these days.
Area to be waxed should be washed with soap and water and dried well. Any makeup, lotions or deodorants may prevent removing hair. Wax should not be applied on broken, cracked, soar or sunburn skin.
Under arm waxing would not cost more than $20.00 and can be done at home or salon. It won’t take more than 15 minutes to wax underarms.
Underarm wax strips are easy to use and reach delicate, smaller areas of armpit leaving skin smooth and velvety.
Post waxing care
Waxed area should not be exposed to sun for 24 hours. No harsh creams or makeup should be applied. Waxed skin just requires a gentle massage with baby lotion. Applying cold compresses can reduce the redness of skin.
